GALAMEDIA - Nearly a year and a half has passed since the COVID-19 pandemic began in Indonesia. Doctors, healthcare workers, and the public have continuously worked tirelessly to combat the pandemic with all their efforts. They are humanity's warriors who should be emulated.
Jabar Bergerak has given recognition to those who have fought against the COVID-19 pandemic. These awards are titled Romantis (Free Dream House) and Modis (Free Dream Motorcycle) for humanitarian warriors facing economic difficulties.
Atalia Praratya Ridwan Kamil, the founder of Jabar Bergerak, symbolically handed over a house to Dadan Hidayat, a cleaning service worker at RSUD Soreang, via video conference from Gedung Pakuan, Bandung City, on Friday, July 16, 2021.
Meanwhile, a motorcycle was directly presented to Sujono, a non-medical worker at Padasuka Community Health Center, at the Jabar Bergerak Secretariat in Bandung City last Wednesday.
“This is a token of love for the COVID-19 warriors in a tangible form,” said Atalia.
"Responding to the call, Jabar Bergerak has received significant support from sponsors like Bank BJB and Ingria Group to provide gifts in the form of houses and motorcycles," she added.
Award recipients were recommended by those around them for Romantis and Modis awards because of their significant contributions to combating the COVID-19 pandemic in their communities.
Additionally, recipients must meet the eligibility criteria for the Romantis and Modis programs. To qualify for Modis, recipients must be economically disadvantaged, not own a motorcycle, and be recommended by friends, neighbors, or organizations.
For Romantis, recipients must also be economically disadvantaged, not own a house, and be recommended by friends, neighbors, or organizations.
Atalia stated that around 1,769 COVID-19 warriors were recommended by those around them. However, Jabar Bergerak conducted a selection process, workplace surveys, and interviews with those providing the recommendations.
“This is all made possible through the generosity of donors, with Jabar Bergerak acting as their extended hand. The donors' goodwill should be received with an open heart," she said.
According to Atalia, the first phase of the Romantis and Modis programs began in March 2021, while the second phase will be launched soon.
"As with the first phase, this program will also provide nine houses and nine motorcycles to pandemic warriors, including healthcare workers, educators, MSME champions, and non-medical volunteers," she explained.
"This is purely from the generosity of donors and the goodwill of the community. Everyone involved in Jabar Bergerak does not receive any compensation and serves as volunteers," she added.
